Cat Dumper By Nur Erra Fadzerah

Cases of animal abuse are increasing worldwide which left a huge impact on animal lovers. Videos and photos of animals getting abused spread in social networks such as Facebook which stir up anger among netizens. These abusing have to stop before the number of cases keep increasing gradually.

The recent cat dumper which was caught on video which caused a stir among netizens were identified. The man was caught red-handed dumping a cat into a rubbish bin right in front of a veterinary clinic on a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage which was posted on the Cat Welfare Society's Facebook page on Tuesday. In the footage, the man was accompanied by a little girl, who watched him as he dumped the cat. It drew condemnation from animal lovers and some even managed to work out the man's license plate number from the clip.

In my opinion, his act was rather heartless and irresponsible to dump an innocent and pitiful cat into a rubbish bin. He could think of a better way even if he wanted to get rid of the cat such as giving it away to the SPCA or find it a new home. Far worst, he brought along his daughter whom witnessed him dumping the cat in such a cruel manner. This could make his daughter to take dumping cats or animals is an acceptable act and might follow his steps in the future. As a father, he should set a good example to his daughter but instead, he has given the wrong example by doing this. I think, even though he might not be an animal lover, he should at least be rational. This is indeed a wrong act and he should receive his punishment for abusing an innocent cat to ensure that he learn his lessons and will not repeat his mistakes.

We might be of a different species from animals. However, animals should be treated like how humans are treated. They are similar to us who need love and care from people. People should start appreciating animals and treat them like how it should be treated. Animal abuse need to stop.

Name Changers in India whose name was "unwanted"

If you do not know Hindi and you heard a name called "Nakusa" or "Nakushi", you might thought that it was a nice name just like I would have thought! However, it actually meant "unwanted" in Hindi!

Unbelievable is the first thought that I immediately thought after I had finished reading about this article. Why? It is because I COULD NOT BELIEVE that their parents would call them unwanted just because they hoped that their next child would not be a girl. If I were to born in India and was treated like that, I might felt insulted ,ashamed and depressed everyday. It is because the feeling of being called "unwanted" everyday by everybody would be unbearable.

I felt that I am really lucky to be born in Singapore where there are rarely gender discrimination and every gender are treated equally. I am also glad that all these "unwanted" girls are able to change their names into their desired names and be able to not feel ashamed or insulted anymore.

In conclusion, I really hope that one day there will be no gender discrimination anymore.

'Unwanted' By Nur Erra Fadzerah

Be it a boy or a girl, no one wish to be called 'Unwanted' by their own parents. Both gender would be glad to be treated equally by their parents regardless of their gender. However, in India, daughters are not appreciated like how sons are. Part of the reason is the expenses they need to fork out to marry off their daughters. While a boy, on the other hand, will bring home a bride and dowry. Another reason is Hindu custom dictates that only sons can light their parents' funeral pyres. This cause the huge gap of the ratio between boys and girls in India.

In my opinion, every child born is a gift for the couple. No matter what is the gender of the child, they should appreciate and be grateful to what they are given. Being called 'Unwanted' by our own parents is the last thing that everyone would wish for. Far worst, having everyone calling you by that name. I'm sure all those girls feel depressed and sad being called by that discriminating name. Those girls deserve a nice meaningful name to be called. Hence, i think the idea of getting a new name for those girls is a brilliant idea for them to start anew.

As much as the custom dislike daughters, they should turn over and start appreciating girls as without girls, there will be less women powers. Which means, lesser women for men and simply said, life is incomplete without both men and women.
